Game Programming

Game Programming
Game Programming is an excellent exercise for creative problem solving, logic, and mental organization.
The free game programming tutorials here get you past the beginner’s learning curve so that you can enjoy those benefits on day one, instead of dealing with confusion.
You also get free source code to work with step by step so you go straight to what matters: making a functional game that stands out from the crowd.
A highly recommended hobby for both kids and adults that wish to enhance personal performance.
Game programming is about dealing with a set of tools (commands, objects, sprites, rooms…), constraints and rules to reach a desired outcome.
The more you learn about the tools, the more variety and complexity can be achieved, and the tougher the “problems” you can solve.
Challenge yourself to build a game just as you imagined it.
My challenge was creating an 80s style adventure game like the ones I was playing as a kid (mostly Might and Magic – the Secret of the Inner Sanctum). It required quite a bit of problem solving and imagination to eventually get the 3D perspective, the combat system, the quests and the full story to work together.
This is a video of version 1.06:
The tutorials
The tutorials are about creating a totally different type of game – an RPG with click and drag inventory and action management (another challenge that required an entirely new set of solutions). The following video gives an overview of what the tutorials teach (the source code is available on each post).
