Do You Cry at the Movie Theater?

Welcome back! Did I tell you I love comments? Very few people write... Be original :)

Come on, admit it… No? Well prove it!

You can test your manliness (women too) by seeing a film that starts lightheartedly, stays that way until the end and gives a wicked 15 minute punch to the gut at the end (played to the rythm of Tchaikovski’s Concerto, no less).

Like this one:

I hear your objections. It’s in French, you probably don’t understand it and you don’t think it will ever play in your area anyway. Well it did only come out just this early November in France, but Weinstein Co. is going to be promoting it in the US and it is already programmed to show throughout Europe. So you can keep an eye out for it.
.
In case you are wondering I did not go see it to test my manliness, I knew full well it didn’t stand a chance :)

    Actually I do. Have you seen the movie King Kong Charles. I cried three times, during the three hours movie. It’s one of my favorite movie of all time. Thankfully, cinema is dark inside.

    Hi Karlil,

    Ah yes I saw that too. I can’t remember how I reacted to that one though… Yes it’s dark, and people are usually paying attention to the film, and trying to pretend they’re insensitive to it. Who cares though, I prefer some sensitivity to coldheartedness or an “I’m too cool” attitude.

    Ok, something was trying to exit from my eyes last week, but don’t tell anybody, maybe it was joy :p . It’s probably the single time it happened to me and it was with a movie series about a person I highly respect who died at a young age.

    I cried at The Notebook and watching The Color Purple. They get to me, every time.

    Nothing wrong with a good cry now and again, right? :-)

    One can see it as a purge, I would say probably as important as laughter but no need to cry 15 minutes a day, that would be overdoing it :)

    @Charles – Creative Lab

    I have one of those daily affirmation calendars and guess what’s staring me in the face right now – “We should never be afraid of tears. They soften our hearts, wash our eyes, and clear our vision”. How true :-)
